Lodging Expression of Interest in 2022: What You Need to Know before the Draws Resume in July

As the government of Canada is ready to resume express entry draws in July 2022, now is the right time to calculate your Canada PR points, enter the pool, and kick-start your journey of Canadian immigration. The much-awaited announcement was made by Canada’s immigration minister, Sean Fraser, on April 22.

The announcement depicts one of the most significant changes in the Canadian immigration arena. It comes as positive news as Express Entry is the most critical source of inviting skilled foreign migrants to Canada.

The major setback of the Covid-19 pandemic was the decrease in the Express Entry draws, followed by a temporary pause in all economic migration draws for at least a year. The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is the most popular economic immigration program for immigration aspirants.

The FSWP plays a critical role in inviting thousands of skilled workers across the globe each year based on their high Canada migration points and their ability to make valuable economic contributions to the Canadian economy. However, in December 2020, the Canadian government took a significant step to decrease the application backlog created during the lock down period in the processing centers. Canada induced a pause in the express entry draws for FSW applicants.

A few months later, Canada’s other flagship program- the Canadian Experience Class, also suffered due to the application backlog. The government paused all draws for CEC applicants in September 2021.

As the most loved immigration destination, Canada enjoys the lowest employment, more jobs than ever, and vacancies in record-high numbers. The country desperately needs foreign workers due to Canada’s lack of skilled workers. Plus, an aging population, low birth rate, and more retirements have fueled the need for qualified foreigners.

Considering the demand for qualified workers, July is a crucial month for all immigration hopefuls seeking to relocate to the maple leaf country. Canada also plans to increase its annual express entry admission to over 110,000 in 2024.

Prepare for express entry to get early ITA

It takes time to prepare and submit an Express Entry profile. The earlier you start your preparation by getting high Comprehensive Ranking System scores, taking the IELTS exam, and gathering all essential documents, the sooner you will be able to enter the pool and get your invitation to apply (ITA).

The tie-breaking rule may favor your application

The express entry system evaluates an applicant based on age, work experience, language proficiency, education, and others. All these factors give you a score in Canada PR point calculator system or CRS in the pool. The highest-ranking applicants are invited to apply by IRCC. In case of a tie-breaking rule, the IRCC uses the time and date of entry for applicants with identical scores. This tie-breaking rule prefers profiles that have been in the Express Entry pool for a longer duration. Hence, the earlier you enter the pool, the more chances you will have to get selected if the tie-breaking rule is applied.
